You know that you can offer a fantastic place to work and amazing benefits – but you just don’t have the brand reach. Big firms spend millions of dollars on advertising and have agencies focused on their employer brand – It’s no surprise that everybody wants to have a ‘Google’ on their CV. The truth is, even the best small companies struggle to compete for talent.
Cashflow Is Tight
Even if you’re profitable, as the director of a small business, cash is king. After factoring super, payroll tax, onboarding and benefits it’s nearly impossible to spend less than $10k p/m on a good local hire. Feels like a big risk, right?
Performance and Retention
Signing and securing a great new hire is just the start, you’ll need to train them, keep them motivated and provide them with a challenging and dynamic environment if you want them to stay. it’s not uncommon to hear of local hires being described as ‘lazy’ or ‘hard to manage’.
